One of the best ways to get past your fear of spider is to learn more about them and why they are choosing to live in your space. Living in Utah means living amongst a lot of little creatures, spiders included. The more knowledgeable you are, the better prepared you will be to take care of the spiders when you find them.
What does a brown recluse spider look like? One of the first ways to learn about spiders, is to learn how to identify the type of spider that you are in contact with. A Brown Recluse spider is obviously brown in color and is about a medium sized spider. While it is much bigger than a small house spider, it is not quite as big as a daddy long leg spider. These brown spiders most notable features is it’s unique set of eyes. Most spiders have 8 eyes, but this spider only has 6. In fact, these six eyes are grouped into three sections. You will noticed three clusterings of two eyes each on the spiders. They are spread out across the front of the spiders face. Another characteristic that may help you identify this spider is its unique pattern on its abdomen. Many people describe the brown recluse spider as a violin spider as the markings on the back of the abdomen look a lot like a violin. Are they Dangerous? Venom from a Brown Recluse spider does not travel quickly. This is both a good and bad characteristic of this spider. While it is easy to contain the poison, it is also dangerous if it is not treated. The poison will stay in the same place underneath of your skin for a long period of time. While the poison lurks it will slowly start to eat away at your skin. The longer the poison is left in the body, the worse the damage near the bite will be. Luckily, brown recluse spiders are not aggressive and are not interested in biting you unless they are disturbed by you. If you do not bug the spider, they are not going to bug you. However, that does not go without saying that you can not accidently bump into the spider. They often hide in piles of clothing and bedding where you accidentally run into them and frighten them. If you find these brown spiders inside of your home it is best that you contact a pest control company to come and help you determine how they got there and which route is going to be best taken in order to remove them from inside of your home. Ignoring the problem is only going to result in a greater number of spiders inside of your home as they will reproduce rather rapidly without your noticing.
