Living in Utah means living around a few different types of spiders. Some spiders are more common than others in the state of Utah. Not only that, but some spiders are much more dangerous for you to be around and some are fairly harmless. This quick blog can help break down which spiders you may see around pretty often and how you should handle them being in and near your home. Black Widows Unfortunately, black widow spiders are pretty common in Utah. The weather is a great climate for these spiders. Thankfully, we do not see a lot of female black widow spiders inside of people’s homes. We mostly only come into contact with male black widows which happen to be a lot less dangerous for you and your children. Hobo Spiders Hobo spiders are another common spider in Utah that varies in the level of danger your family can be in if they are living inside of your home. One thing you need to be aware of when you are bit by a hobo is the immediate reaction you have to the bite. If the bite turns red immediately it is very likely that the spider injected venom into your body. Within the next couple of days there is a good chance that you will think the bite is better, but it is actually just about to get a lot worse. If you start to notice and sore and blistering you need to seek the attention of a medical professional to help you. If the bite does not turn red quickly it is likely that no venom was injected and the bite should be fine. White House Spiders White house spiders are really common in Utah mostly because of the weather. The mix of warm and cold weather draws in these little spiders and encourages them to live inside of your home. They do really well outside during the summer months, but have to seek shelter inside of your home once the weather warms up.
These little spiders are fairly harmless, and only a nuisance to your family. You do not need to worry about your children being harmed by the spiders bite- in fact, there is a very small chance that the spider will ever even bite your child. They are not aggressive at all and usually just mind their own business. Regardless of what kind of spiders you have inside of your home, you always have the option to call a pest control company to come into your home and remove the spiders for good. Removing the spiders will put your mind at ease and protect your children from the potentially dangerous bite that the hobo or black widow could place on them.
